Our Puppies

Thank you for your interest in a Fairview Park Groodle. We are ethical breeders of these beautiful dogs and would love to be the breeder you choose for your next furbaby. When you get your puppy you will be glad that you did.

By the nature of our business, we do not often have puppies available for sale. Our waiting list is usually approximately 6-12 months long and is populated by discerning puppy buyers who recognise the difference in our program and what that translates to in terms of the puppy they get.

All of our litters are planned meticulously and unless we are able to fill at least half of the estimated litter reservation spots at the time of planning the pregnancy, and are 100% confident we have enough demand from our waiting list to fill the remaining, we do not even go ahead with a pregnancy. We are only interested in breeding to meet demand and never want to contribute to an oversupply of puppies. Our puppies come into this world being loved and wanted before they are even conceived. You can read more about this here.

While this does mean unfortunately that our prospective puppy parents do have to wait for a pup, this is the tradeoff that needs to be made to breed responsibly our prospective puppy parents know that our puppies are worth waiting for and are happy to do so. You can apply to go on our waiting list by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page.

FAQS

  1. How big will your puppies grow

This really does depend on the litter and who the parents are but we do aim for mini-medium groodles. Our puppies when fully grown have been within the following ranges

  • F1s (Golden Retriever x Miniature Poodle)

on average these puppies will be between 18-22 kg and 40-50 cm floor to shoulder

  • F1Bs (Groodle x Poodle)

F1bs are on average 13-18 kg and 35-45 cm floor to shoulder

  • Multigen Groodles (Groodle x Groodle)
Our Multigens – ar on average 12-18 kg and 35-45 cm floor to shoulder

2. Do your puppies shed/ what coats do they have

  • Our puppies F1s and multigens have fleece coats and our F1bs have fleece and lovely soft easy care wool coats. All are fully furnished, low to no shed. We use genetic testing to determine pairs that will result in the classic teddy bear look with a low to no shed coat. You can read our blog on coat types and furnishings here and more about what influences shedding in oodle breeds here. You can see photos of our previous litters here.

Please note that in general, the F1s will be more variable in size than the F1bs. Our dads are either miniature poodles (F1s) or miniature or toy poodles (F1bs) which means they will generally be smaller than standard groodles, however with the F1s, mum is a golden retriever who is 30kg and 50cm floor to shoulder so in theory one of her pups could in theory grow as big as this. Based on previous litters, we have had F1s as small as 12 kg and as big as 22 kg. Our F1b and multigens are on the smaller side with mums and dad having more consistent sizing. With their coats, while we cannot guarantee no shed, we test our parents genetics to create puppies with the classic teddy bear groodle look and with low to no shed fleece or wool coats.

3. Do you desex your puppies prior to them going to their new homes?

No, we do not early desex as we do not believe this is in the best interest of the puppies. We prefer that owners wait wherever possible until the puppy is fully grown before desexing as this is in line with the most recent research as to what is best for the dog in terms of their growth and maturity. We do however use a company called SpaySecure to protect your puppy’s health and
hormones and let them grow to a healthy age before desexing. SpaySecure uses binding contracts to ensure dog desexing at a healthy age. They’ll follow up with you to provide advice and reminders, ensuring your puppy gets desexed safely. Please visit their website for more information https://spaysecure.com/
