Why you need to ask about a breeder’s returns policy

Even if you think there would never be a situation where you would return your dog / puppy, it is good peace of mind to have. More importantly, however it is an essential question to ask any breeder you are considering buying a puppy from as their answer will often determine whether they are truly an ethical breeder who stands behind their program and the puppies they produce for life. It is also essential that if they say they do, you get this in writing.

At Fairview Park Groodles all puppies are sold with a comprehensive sale contract that includes a health and rehoming guarantee. We put it in writing and our clients agree to contact us first if they are ever considering rehoming their dog and if they don’t have a suitable alternative, the dog is returned to us. This is not just something we offer, it is something we insist on. We never want to be in a situation where we don’t know where a puppy we produced is. If all breeders did this, there would be no dogs surrendered to rescue associations and we all need to do our part to stop this from being a thing, no dog deserves that.

It has never been a situation that we’ve had, however our clients enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing that we offer this if it were ever needed for any reason. We 100% stand behind every aspect of our program and are always available if needed for any advice or support for the lifetime of the dog.

Anyone looking to buy a puppy should always do their homework and make sure they are buying from an ethical, responsible breeder who won’t just provide you with a puppy, it will be that once-in-a-lifetime dog. Yes, you may have to wait a bit longer and pay a bit more, but when it comes to adding a new member of your family, you want to make sure you’re getting the very best quality that is available in terms of health, temperament and ongoing support.
